Willow Hybrid from Direct Gardening.com

Willow Hybrid from Direct Gardening.com

Consumer: Gardeners

The purpose of the Willow Hybrid is to produce a very large shade tree in a very short period of time.

Pros: Some trees grow so slowly that only your great grandchildren will benefit from their shade and beauty. The Willow Hybrid grows so quickly that you will be able to enjoy them yourself even before your own children start to school. The Willow Hybrid trees arrive as 5’ tall saplings but in only one year they can be 25 feet tall. They grow so fast that you can almost watch it happen.

The Willow Hybrid is disease resistant and they often grow to be 80-100 feet tall. They have a life span of about 70 years. Willow Hybrids are hardy to say the least. They have survived severe winters in Canada and grow as far south as Florida. As far as soil conditions go the Willow Hybrid can thrive in dry soils and help dry out boggy land. The Willow Hybrid is an excellent choice of tree for your yard.

Cons: There are no cons associated with the Willow Hybrid except that they do ‘weep’ and the residue can stain surfaces on which it falls. So choosing a good area to plant them is important.
